Faith work in Pakistan
The Galileo Foundation has supported the Missionary Society of St. Columban in the completion of the General Instruction of the Roman Missal, which is the preliminary section in the Missal dealing with the Eucharistic theology, rubrics and explanations of the various parts of the Mass and objects used in the celebration of the Mass. As this has never been translated, they had to develop new Christian Urdu vocabulary – a serious contribution both to the liturgical and intellectual life of the Catholic Church in Pakistan as well as to the literary and cultural environment of Pakistan.
In addition to this, the Missionary Society of St. Columban has been able to complete the translation of the Proper of the Seasons beginning with Advent through to the end of Time Throughout the Year, the Proper of the Mass including the solemn blessings and the special Eucharistic Prayers, and the Common of the Saints until October.
The full translation will be completed by July 2025 after which will come the necessary careful preparation of the final text for approval by the Dicastery for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments. The Galileo Foundation continues to support this challenging and demanding but engaging work.
